Intabula documentation

Intabula is a local-first Markdown notes app for Mac with a built-in, sandboxed AI agent. It turns a folder of plain Markdown files into collections with typed fields, table and Kanban views, and full-text search — and the agent works in the same files through typed operations instead of a shell.

Quick facts

• Every note is a plain Markdown file with YAML frontmatter, in a folder you choose. The index is a rebuildable SQLite cache; deleting Intabula loses nothing.
• The agent runs on your existing Claude or Codex subscription — no API keys, no per-token billing.
• The agent has no shell and no direct file access; it works through specific typed vault operations plus read-only context tools.
• Existing Obsidian vaults work as-is.
• There is no account and no Intabula server; sync is the filesystem's job.
• An iOS companion app provides search, views, and editing on the phone; the agent runs on the desktop.
