Shared lists and household trackers

A collection is a folder of Markdown files, so you can share one by sharing its folder in iCloud Drive. There is no Intabula account to create; iCloud sharing uses each person's Apple ID.

Setting up a shared grocery list

Create a Groceries folder in iCloud Drive and share it with your partner from Finder.
In Intabula, click New collection in the sidebar, then Mount a folder…, and choose Groceries. It appears in the sidebar as an external collection.
Add a record such as "Oat milk" with aisle: dairy and status: need.
Your partner installs the Intabula iOS app, opens External collections… from its sidebar, and adds the same folder with Add external collection….

When your partner sets status: got at the store, the file changes in iCloud Drive and your Mac picks up the edit. Next to the .md files, the shared folder holds a hidden .intabula folder with the collection's schema and saved views. Once you pin status as a select, your partner gets the same column and the same board. Without the app, the Files app shows the list as a folder of .md files.

Other shared projects

A trip plan works the same way: one record per stop, with dates and booking links as fields and the details in the note body.

When the project is done

Stop sharing the folder in iCloud Drive and click Unmount in the collection's settings. Unmounting removes the collection from Intabula and deletes no files, so the list stays readable in any text editor.
